Scripture: Luke 2:15-16
“When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem now… They came with haste and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.”
Reflection
The shepherds didn’t wait for confirmation. They didn’t form a committee or send a representative ahead.
They just ran.
They left their sheep—perhaps their only source of income, their sole responsibility—because something greater had been revealed. Heaven had spoken, and they couldn’t stay still. Their response to glory wasn’t a song or a speech—it was movement.
And they found Him. Not in a palace, but in a feeding trough. Not surrounded by royalty, but by two tired parents who probably needed some reassurance themselves.
The shepherds’ presence wasn’t just about witness—it was about confirmation. Their story affirmed Mary’s faith and strengthened Joseph’s quiet courage.
Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is to move quickly when God speaks. Not perfectly. Not confidently. Just quickly. You don’t need to know every answer. You don’t need to figure it all out.
When heaven opens and God speaks, run toward the miracle.
You may find that someone else needs your story just as much as you need the Savior.
Centering Prayer
Lord of the long night,
Wake me to the wonder of your birth among us. When I see your glory breaking into my world, let urgency rise in me to declare You to others. Make my life a message. Let my feet carry good news and my voice echo what I’ve witnessed in Your presence. – Amen
Practice for Today
Tell someone today—out loud—what God has shown you recently. It doesn’t need to be profound. Just true.
Journaling Prompt
What have I seen or heard from God lately that I haven’t yet shared?
Blessing for the Day
Be moved by the sound of God’s voice.
Run toward God’s wonder and glory, not away from it.
Tell others what you’ve seen, without fear or shame.
And may joy propel you into the world as a witness of God’s Light.
Pray As You Go
Breathe in: Let me go…
Breath out: … and tell what I’ve seen
