Grace Is the Beginning, Not the Reward
Many Christians spend much of their lives feeling like they are almost there with God.
Almost faithful enough.
Almost disciplined enough.
Almost spiritual enough.
If they could just pray a little more…
understand the Bible a little better…
become more consistent…
Then maybe God would finally be pleased with them.
But the Apostle Paul says something that completely overturns that idea.
In Romans 5, Paul writes:
“Through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand.” (Romans 5:2)
Grace is not something we slowly climb toward.
Grace is the place where the Christian life begins.
In this episode of The Bible Unplugged, we begin a new teaching series called Held in Grace and explore what Paul means when he says we are already standing in God’s grace.
In This Episode
We explore:
• Why grace is the starting place of the Christian life
• How Paul describes a transfer between two spiritual realms
• Why “standing in grace” means living in God’s presence
• The surprising connection between Romans 5 and the Garden of Eden
Most importantly, we discover why the Christian life is not a journey toward acceptance…
but a journey from acceptance.
Key Scripture
Romans 5:1–2
Ephesians 2:8–9
Luke 15:11–24
Hebrews 4:16
The Big Idea
Grace is not the reward waiting at the end of the spiritual journey.
Grace is the ground beneath your feet.
Everything God does in our lives grows from that foundation.
Reflection
Before you try harder…
Before you fix everything in your life…
Stop for a moment and notice where you stand in your relationship with God.
The ground beneath your feet is not judgment.
It is grace.
And it always has been.
