Scripture: Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it.”
Reflection
Jesus draws a vivid contrast between two roads: one wide and inviting, the other narrow and demanding. The wide path is lined with comfort, approval, and ease. It asks little of us, promising freedom but delivering emptiness. The narrow way, by contrast, feels restrictive only because it requires focus—a wholehearted devotion that refuses compromise.
The gate is narrow not because God wishes to exclude, but because love itself requires surrender. To walk this road means releasing our grip on self-will, pride, and distraction. It means choosing discipline over drift, obedience over indulgence, trust over control. The narrow path shapes our souls through refinement, not restriction.
We do not walk this way alone. Christ Himself is both the gate and the guide. His Spirit strengthens weary feet and renews our resolve when the way feels steep. Even though few may choose this road, those who do discover it find that it leads to abundance beyond measure—a life grounded in peace, illuminated by purpose, and crowned with eternal joy. The narrow way may be hidden to the crowd, but it opens wide into the spacious freedom of God’s Kingdom.
Centering Prayer
Lord,
Guide me through the narrow gate. When the vacant luxuries of this world tempt me to follow the easy path give me courage to follow You. When the path is difficult renew me with Your strength. Keep me focused on the goal You have set before me. – Amen.
Practice for Today

Blessing for the Day
As you walk the road of life choose the path to the gate
that leads to God’s desire for you.
