“Get up, take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt.” — Matthew 2:13

When Protection Looks Like Displacement

It should have been the calm after the storm. The child was born, the Magi had come and gone, and the danger seemed over.

But the story of Jesus’ early life isn’t one of cozy peace. It’s one of divine disruption and dangerous travel. Instead of returning to a quiet life in Nazareth, Joseph was awakened by another dream, another warning:

“Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.”

So, the holy family became refugees, fleeing by night, leaving their homeland behind.

In a narrative where every move carries deep meaning, their journey to Egypt is more than a practical escape—it is a theological echo, a fulfillment of prophecy, and a reminder that God’s protection often comes wrapped in displacement.
