Chapter 37
“I will choke the living daylights out of you Stephen Merrill Lawson.” Jennifer threw the papers and envelope down on the countertop in frustration. “I can’t believe he would pull a stunt like this.”
Becca came running to the kitchen to see what the fuss was about. “What’s wrong, Jen?”
“Steve didn’t pay the mortgage last month or the month before like he was supposed to in the divorce decree, the jerk.”
“What do we do?”
“It’s not your problem, Becca. It’s mine.” Jen ran her hands through her hair while she thought through her very limited options and pondered her even more limited finances.
“I know, but I live here too. Maybe I can help.”
“No, I’ll figure something out. I always do.”
