Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:2
You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.
Today’s Reflection
Moses reminds Israel that the wilderness was not wasted time but a classroom for trust, where daily dependence replaced the illusion of self-sufficiency. The manna, the thirst, and the uncertainty revealed not only what was in their hearts, but who God had always been—faithful and present. Desert seasons strip away our false securities and teach us to rely on grace one day at a time. The season of Lent invites us to remember differently, tracing God’s quiet provisions through past hardships. As we remember, trust grows for the wilderness we are walking now.
A Prayer of Presence
Faithful God,
Teach me to remember rightly. Open my eyes to the subtle ways You have sustained me. Let the memory of Your past faithfulness strengthen my trust in this present wilderness. – Amen
A Prayer to Carry With You
Faithful in every desert... I remember You
