Poured Out at His Feet – Love in the Wilderness

A gentle reflection from John 12:1-8 about extravagant devotion

Scripture: John 12:1–8

At a dinner in Bethany, Mary pours costly perfume on Jesus’ feet, filling the house with fragrance. While others question the waste, Jesus receives her act as beautiful devotion. Her love is not calculated or efficient—it is wholehearted and freely given. This episode reflects on how surrender sometimes leads us beyond sensible offerings into extravagant love. Love in the wilderness reminds us that nothing given to Jesus in devotion is ever wasted.

Prayer of Presence
Jesus,
You are worthy of more than my leftovers. Loosen my grip on what I guard too tightly. Teach me Mary’s freedom—to let go of what is costly and lay it at Your feet. Let me call it joy, not waste. Amen.

Carry This Prayer With You
Breathe in: I pour my love at Your feet…
Breathe out: …I give my all to You.

Until next time:
Stay steady.
Stay open.
Stay present.
You are still… here.
