Scripture: Luke 1:45
“Elizabeth said, ‘Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!’”
Reflection
The angel had gone. The message had been delivered. But after Gabriel left, Mary was left with a body beginning to change and a future that looked nothing like she expected.
She hurried to the one person who might understand—her relative Elizabeth, who was also miraculously pregnant. Mary’s “yes” to God had brought chaos to her reputation and uncertainty to her relationships. But when she walked into Elizabeth’s home, the baby inside Elizabeth leapt for joy. And Mary was called blessed.
It didn’t look like a blessing. Not yet.
Sometimes, obedience feels like a mess. God calls us to something beautiful, and we expect clarity, applause, and divine ease. But instead, we face confusion, loneliness, and fear. The presence of God does not exempt us from pain—but it does transform it.
Elizabeth didn’t just affirm Mary’s pregnancy. She affirmed her belief. Blessed is she who believed… That’s where the miracle begins. Not in what we can see, but in the faith to believe before the fulfillment arrives.
Mary’s story reminds us that the holy often starts in hidden places. And when it looks like everything’s unraveling, something divine might just be forming.
Centering Prayer
God of the unseen miracle,
You meet me in the middle of the mess. I am thankful You do not require perfection—only faith. Give me eyes to see the hidden glory growing in the shadows. Let me bless what’s unfinished, and trust what’s forming within. – Amen
Practice for Today
Reach out to someone who carries their own unseen promise. Speak a word of blessing and encouragement over them—reminding them that believing is itself a miracle.
Journaling Prompt
What unseen or unfinished work in my life might already be a miracle in progress?
Blessing for the Day
You are not alone in your waiting.
You are not foolish for believing.
The promise is growing, even if you can’t yet feel its fullness.
And your faith is seen, honored, and called blessed.
Pray As You Go
Breathe in: Help me to believe…
Breathe out: … even in the waiting
