Still Here: Led Into Dry Places

Still, Here... Love in the Wilderness, Day 2

Scripture: Matthew 4:1

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.

Today’s Reflection

The same Spirit who descended at Jesus’ baptism now leads Him into the wilderness—proving that dryness is not always a detour, but sometimes divine direction. Jesus is not lost; He is being led into a place where hunger reveals what He truly trusts. Faced with shortcuts and quick relief, He chooses to live by God’s Word rather than immediate satisfaction. The wilderness exposes the fragile stories we rely on and invites us into a deeper dependence. Even in dry seasons, the Spirit is walking with us, shaping our hunger toward what truly sustains.

A Prayer of Presence

Spirit of God,

When my life feels barren and my soul feels dry, remind me I am not abandoned. Lead me to trust Your presence in the emptiness and to feed on Your living word, not on lesser bread. – Amen

A Prayer to Carry With You

Lead me in the wilderness... help me learn to trust
