Scripture: Matthew 1:24
“Joseph… did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.”
When Righteousness Has No Words
In all the Christmas pageantry, Joseph often stands silently in the background. And for good reason—because the Gospels record no spoken words from him at all. He is the only main character in the Advent story who never says a thing. But don’t mistake his silence for insignificance. In Joseph’s case, actions spoke louder than words.
Joseph’s story is one of quiet courage, moral strength, and divine obedience. His legacy isn’t in what he said—it was in what he did. While others received angelic visions, sang revolutionary songs, or prophesied in the Temple, Joseph dreamed—and obeyed.
In a world that prizes volume and visibility, Joseph reminds us that some of God’s greatest servants walk in quiet faithfulness.
