Scripture: Philippians 4:9 (WEB)
Do the things which you learned, received, heard, and saw in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
Have you ever wished you could feel God’s presence more clearly? Do you wish that you could sense God instantly as if His presence was wrapped around you like a blanket? What could you do to sense God’s presence that clearly?
The Apostle Paul gives us a deeply practical way to better sense God’s presence: practice.
“The things you’ve seen in me do them,” he says. “And the God of peace will be with you.”
The peace of God doesn't fall on us like the rain, or call to us like a ringtone.
God’s peace grows in us through intentional action repeated again and again.
When we practice the things of God — prayer, thankfulness, kindness, generosity, attention — we become more attuned to His presence in and around us. We train our spiritual senses to see what was always there.
Presence grows through practice, not perfection.
You don’t need to get it right.
You just need to show up and notice, over and over again.
Practice: Choose a Small, Daily Anchor
Pick one small spiritual practice to repeat daily this week. It could be:
A short “As You Go” Prayer when you wake up
Ask God to sit with you as you check your email
Tell God “Thank you” before drinking a glass of water
Let that simple act be an anchor for your awareness of God in you.
Remember: it’s not about feeling spiritual. It’s about returning attention to God, over and over. The feelings will take care of themselves.
Journaling Prompt
“What is one simple practice I can build into my day to remind me of God’s presence?”
Don’t overthink it. Begin small. Let your response be a doorway into deeper awareness.
Closing Blessing
Look for God’s activity in the repetition, not the breakthrough.
The rehearsal, not the performance is where you meet God.
Weave the sacred into your daily routine.
As you practice the things of God,
wrap his peace around you like a warm blanket –
comforting, secure, always near.
“As You Go” Prayer
Inhale: “I practice Your peace…”
Exhale: “…and You are with me.”
