Scripture: Luke 1:38
“Mary said, ‘Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.’ Then the angel departed from her.”
Mary’s life was interrupted by an announcement she didn’t see coming and could not fully understand. An angel told her she would give birth to the Son of God. A miracle, yes, but one that would also bring misunderstanding, risk, and deep personal change.
Her response? Not a list of questions. Not a negotiation. Just:
“Let it be with me according to your word.”
Mary’s surrender wasn’t passive resignation—it was active trust. She didn’t know how everything would unfold, but she knew who had spoken. And that was enough.
Sometimes our purpose emerges not through detailed planning, but through a surrendered heart. We say “yes” before we see the “how.” We step into God’s calling with both trembling hands and open hearts.
Mary’s story reminds us that fear fades in the light of God’s calling. And faith grows in the soil of surrender.
You don’t have to understand everything to trust the One who holds everything.
Centering Prayer
Lord,
Give me the courage to say “yes” even when I can’t see the whole picture.
Help me trust that Your plans are good and that You will be with me every step.
Let my surrender open the door to Your joy. Amen.
Practice for Today
Think of one area in your life where you’ve been holding back from God.
Today, pray Mary’s words:
“Let it be with me according to Your word.”
Notice what shifts in your heart when you release control.
Journaling Prompt
Where am I waiting for more certainty before I trust God?
How might saying “yes” now allow joy and purpose to grow in my life?
Closing Blessing
Say yes.
Release your need to control the outcome.
Step into the unknown with the confidence that God’s presence goes before you.
Let your surrender become the seed of your greatest joy.
Pray as You Go
Inhale: Let it be…
Exhale: …according to Your word.
Having trust and faith in him unconditionally
