Scripture: Genesis 5:23-24 (WEB)
All the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not found, for God took him.
The entire story of what made Enoch unique is contained in a few sentences in the Bible. His story is brief but powerful. He didn’t lead a nation or write inspiring psalms. He didn’t leave any legacy except this: he walked with God.
That’s all. That’s everything. That, however, was enough.
We live in a culture that praises great accomplishments and big challenges. It seems that the highest calling for a lot of people is to get noticed, get a lot of followers, and rejoice in “likes.”
Enoch reminds us that there is a better and quieter path: walk with God in the ordinary. Enoch didn’t run ahead of God and he didn’t lag behind. He simply walked one step at a time each day. Whether through the messy or the mundane, the exciting or the confusing, Enoch… just… walked.
Walking with God doesn’t require a stage or a social media presence. You don’t just walk with God in a beautiful park or inspiring sanctuary. Walking with God simply requires your attention.
“What is God’s will for my life?” is a common question we ask ourselves. But maybe there is a better question – “Am I walking with Him in the direction of His will?”
God wants you to walk with him through every aspect and season of your life: your coffee breaks, your commutes, your shopping trips, and your quiet moments.
Nothing is too plain or too distant for His presence.
Practice: Slow Your Steps
Today, as you go about your routine, practice mindful walking – whether it’s through your home, down a hallway, or in a parking lot. As your feet touch the ground, pray:
“God, I walk with You.”
Let your pace slow. Let your mind soften. Let your heart open.
Journaling Prompt
“What does it mean for me to walk with God in the plain and simple things? How does that change the way I experience daily life?”
Let your reflection make you aware of God’s power and presence this very moment.
