Scripture: Psalm 63:1–8
God, you are my God. I will earnestly seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My flesh longs for you, in a dry and weary land, where there is no water. So I have seen you in the sanctuary, watching your power and your glory. Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you.
Today’s Reflection
Some of David’s deepest psalms were born in the wilderness, where comfort was stripped away and raw desire remained. In the desert, he does not seek rescue alone—he seeks God Himself, declaring that His lovingkindness is better than life. This episode reflects on how Lent exposes our hidden thirsts and redirects them toward their true source. Love in the wilderness does not shame your longing; it teaches you where to bring it. Let your thirst become a prayer.
A Prayer of Presence
God of lovingkindness,
Meet me in my restless hunger for Your presence. Turn my thirst away from lesser comforts and draw it toward Your presence. Lead me to the only source where my soul is truly satisfied. – Amen
A Prayer to Carry With You
Breathe in: My soul thirsts for You…
Breathe out: … help me feel Your presence
