Scripture: John 5:17, 19
“But Jesus answered them, ‘My Father is still working, so I am working, too.’... Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.”
You don’t have to start from scratch. God is already at work.
Your purpose begins understanding what this means.
Jesus didn’t begin His ministry by announcing a five-year plan. He didn’t search for meaning and purpose. He began by noticing what the Father was already doing.
And then… He joined in.
What if that’s what your purpose looks like too?
Not inventing something from nothing.
Not fixing yourself before God can use you.
Not finding your purpose as if it’s hidden from you.
But simply tuning your heart to what the Father is already doing around you—and stepping in.
God is healing.
God is restoring.
God is comforting the hurting, lifting the lowly, reconciling the broken.
Right now.
You don’t have to guess what matters to God.
Just look around.
Open your eyes to the needs, nudges, and sacred opportunities He’s already placed in your path.
This is where purpose often begins—not with a divine voice from heaven, but with a holy awareness on earth.
Centering Prayer
Father,
Help me slow down enough to notice what You are doing.
Open my eyes, my heart, and my hands.
I don’t want to build my own path—I want to walk with You.
Show me where You’re already working today… and help me say yes. Amen.
Practice for Today
Pay attention today.
Watch for a conversation, an interruption, or a moment that stirs your compassion or curiosity.
Ask yourself:
“What is God doing here—and how can I join Him?”
Journaling Prompt
Where have I seen God at work in my life recently—even in small or unexpected places?
How might my sense of purpose grow if I focused more on noticing than striving?
Closing Blessing
Open your eyes.
Lift your gaze.
See the Father moving through ordinary moments, quiet mercies, and unlikely invitations.
You don’t have to do it all—just respond to what’s in front of you.
Step into what God is already doing and let joy meet you there.
Pray as You Go
Inhale: You are still working…
Exhale: …and I want to join You.
Such freedom in noticing instead of striving!
