Day 5: Why Now Matters
God has a plan for our future, but our present moment is most precious to him. That's why they call it "the present."
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:2 — “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
We may think that our deepest and richest spiritual moments are behind us – when life was simpler, when we first felt close to God. We can choose to believe that the best moments with God are waiting somewhere in our future – when life slows down, when we figure things out, or when we learn to be more spiritual.
Paul’s challenge in this passage is a hard stop: “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” Not someday. Not eventually. Now.
Your soul’s enemy doesn’t need to destroy you – he just has to delay you. If you stay mentally attached to the regrets and painful memories of the past or try to control your life in the future, then you have already lost the battle for your attention. God is waiting with open arms in the present moment.
God’s grace is not given to you based on who you used to be.
His grace is not a prize for becoming who you want to be.
Grace is already abounding in who you are right now.
Stop long enough to feel it.
Practice: The One-Minute Now Check
3 times today, pause and ask:
What do I feel right now? (Name one emotion without judging it.)
Where am I holding tension? (Scan your body.)
What do I need to remember? (God forgives me right now.)
You can use a timer on your phone to check in the morning, at midday, and at night. You can also put notes where you will find them during the day to remind you.
Journaling Prompt
“If I truly believed I was already surrounded by God’s grace right now, I would…”
Write honestly. Let it be a letter to your present self from your future self — the one who already knows God’s grace is enough.
Closing Blessing
Stop trying to earn grace – you can’t.
Stop regretting who you were,
or striving for who you want to be. You’re enough right now.
Breathe in the forgiveness that God has already given you.
Give up what you believe you must change first.
Trust that this messy but sacred, distracting but holy, eternal now
is the time of God’s favor, love, and grace
God is not waiting for you to catch up.
God is with you.
Now.
“As You Go” Prayer
Inhale: God’s grace is now
Exhale: God’s time is now.
Let this prayer interrupt your regret and your worry.
Love this and needed to read this today! Thanks!
Such perfect timing for me as I am dealing with my dad's decline and trying to make the best decisions for him. Thank you!
