Day 4: God Is With Me When I Feel Alone
There are times when we may stray from God, but God is always with us wherever we are.
For the next seven days we will explore the challenges we face in accepting God’s presence as a current reality. God demonstrates His amazing presence with us. We tend to view God as being present when we are in church, when we pray, or when a crisis happens. The reality is that God is present in and between those times. The challenge is to become sensitive to God’s presence in everything we do. In all of our moments.
As you build on the foundation of experiencing God in all you do, begin practicing the daily exercises more often. We are building a habit of noticing the holy, the sacred, the worshipful, in every moment of life.
Scripture: Psalm 139:7–10 (WEB)
Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there!
If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me.
God is never late, or early, or too busy. God is never distracted or distant. God is present now.
There is no place that is too dark, too overwhelming, or too far that His Spirit won’t go. Whenever you face pain or loss, God is there. Wherever you go, God is already waiting.
You don’t have to call out to God to ask for His presence.
You only have to notice Him.
When we get too distracted to notice that God is with us, we tend to think that we have to “get back to where God is.” His presence isn’t something we have to reach for or find. To our surprise, God is already here.
In the middle of celebration or pain, victory or defeat, focus or distraction-
even in those places, God’s hand is there to lead you.
His right hand is holding you even when you don’t notice or feel it.
You can rest in this truth today:
God is not only near. He is here.
Practice: Finding God in the Ordinary
Today, pause at three points during your day: once in the morning, once midday, and once in the evening. In each moment, stop and pray:
“God, show me where You are right now.”
Look around. Notice. Feel your breath. Feel the support of your chair. Hear the quiet stirrings around you. God is in this moment — not waiting in the next one.
Journaling Prompt
“When and where have I recently felt far from God? How could I have opened my heart to His presence in those instances?”
Take your time — and let your writing become a doorway to deeper awareness.
Closing Blessing
Wake up to holiness around you.
Recognize God’s presence, not in the wind, but in your breath.
His hand is guiding you gently today: feel His steady presence
in the traffic, in the silence, in the busyness, in the daydreaming.
And remember:
You are never alone. You are always held. God is here now.
“As You Go” Prayer
Inhale: “You are here now
Exhale: “You are with me.”
