“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Reflection
Pain has a way of narrowing our vision. When we’re hurting, it’s hard to see beyond our own suffering. But Paul reminds us that God meets us in affliction not only to bring us through it, but also to equip us to walk with others through theirs.
Your greatest ministry may come from the very place you’ve been most wounded. The comfort you’ve received from God becomes a lifeline you can extend to someone else.
This doesn’t mean God causes our pain for the sake of others—but He does redeem it. No tear is wasted. No season of suffering is without potential for growth, empathy, and connection.
Purpose isn’t only found in moments of victory; it’s often revealed in how we walk through seasons of struggle—and how we help others walk through theirs.
Centering Prayer
God of all comfort…
Thank You for meeting me in my pain.
Teach me to carry that comfort to others so they can see Your mercy and hope. Amen.
Practice for Today
Reach out to someone who is struggling and simply be present. Share a word of encouragement or let them know you understand.
Journaling Prompt
Where has God met me in my pain?
How could that experience help me bring comfort to someone else?
Closing Blessing
Carry the comfort you’ve received into the lives of others.
Let your healed wounds become open doors for hope.
Walk alongside the hurting and show them the God who walks with you.
Pray as You Go
Breathe in: You comfort me…
Breathe out: …let me comfort others.
Thank you for sharing.
