Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, judged Israel at that time... and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. Barak said to her, ‘If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go.’ She said, ‘I will surely go with you.’
Deborah led Israel during a turbulent time. The people had turned away from God and out from under God’s protection. The nation was scattered like sheep without a shepherd and under the control of a pagan king.
She wasn’t elected by the people or coronated by a prophet of God. She was a natural leader, judge, and warrior—not because she chased a title, but because she answered God’s call with boldness.
Her leadership was marked by presence, not rank. Barak, the military commander, didn’t just want her advice—he wanted her to go with him. There’s a joy that comes from leading alongside others, not above them.
God-honoring leadership doesn’t mean doing everything yourself and in your own power—it means inspiring courage in others. Deborah’s presence on the battlefield wasn’t about prestige; it was about partnership with God and His people.
When your leadership is fueled by joy in God’s calling, it becomes contagious. Others find strength and boldness in your presence.

Journaling Prompt
When have I been encouraged to step forward because someone believed in me?
How can I offer that same support to others?
Closing Blessing
Lead boldly where God has placed you.
Speak God’s truth inspite of what others say.
Stand with others in their moments of challenge.
Let your presence be a reminder that God goes with us into every battle.
Pray as You Go
Breathe in: Lead me where I should go…
Breathe out: …and I will follow You.
Good one! I really like the “Pray as you go” phrase offered for today! I am going to try to use it.
