“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”
We often imagine that living with purpose means doing something big, visible, or life changing. In our world, bigger is better and being flashy can make you famous. But in God’s Kingdom, the smallest act done in love is just as valuable as the grandest gesture.
Jesus makes it clear: when you feed the hungry, welcome a stranger, visit the sick, or care for someone in need—you are ministering to Him. Every unnoticed act of kindness is seen and treasured by God.
It’s tempting to believe that doing something great for God requires visibility and impact. But purpose isn’t reserved for those with platforms or titles. It’s lived out in kitchens, hospital rooms, classrooms, offices, and sidewalks—wherever love is needed.
Mother Teresa once said, “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” The truth is, “small things” can have the greatest impact. Any need that God place before you is a call to respond in love. And when love is the motivation, nothing you do is wasted.
Centering Prayer
Jesus…
Help me see You in every person I meet today.
Give me the insight to know what needs others have and the strength to respond
Remind me that no act of love is too small to matter in Your Kingdom. Amen.
Practice for Today
Choose one simple, loving act you can do today for someone who might be overlooked—without seeking recognition.
Journaling Prompt
When have I experienced the impact of a small act of love from someone else?
How can I begin to look for opportunities to offer the same?
Closing Blessing
Set your mind to notice the needs around you.
See Christ in the face of everyone you see.
Serve Him with every kind word, every gentle act, every quiet gift of care.
Let love be the measure of your greatness.
Pray as You Go
Breathe in: Let me see the needs You see...
Breathe out: ... so I can show Your love.
Good thoughts as usual!
