Scripture: Acts 9:3-4
“As he traveled, he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from the sky shone around him. He fell on the earth and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’”
Have you ever felt that your past history is too rough for God to transform? That you are close enough to God to be accepted, but too far gone to be useful in His kingdom? The good news is: God can take what you have and create something wonderful. If God can transform Saul, who we know as the Apostle Paul, God can change you.
Saul was certain he was serving God when he hunted down followers of Jesus. His purpose was clear and his commitment unstoppable—until Jesus stopped him in his tracks and rewrote his story.
In a blinding moment of grace, the persecutor became the preacher. The destroyer of churches became their greatest encourager. The man breathing threats became the man breathing life.
Paul’s story reminds us that no past disqualifies us from God’s future. Grace doesn’t just forgive—it transforms. It takes the raw material of our past, even the parts we wish we could erase, and forges it into a testimony of God’s power.
If you think you’ve gone too far or done too much, remember this: the same Jesus who met Paul on the road still meets people today. And He still rewrites stories with grace.
Centering Prayer
Jesus,
Thank You for stopping me when I’m headed in the wrong direction.
Rewrite my story with Your grace, and use my past as a platform for Your glory. Amen.
Practice for Today
Write down one part of your past you’ve struggled to see as redeemable.
Offer it to God and ask Him to show you how He can use it for good.
Journaling Prompt
Where has God already redeemed something in my story?
What might He still be rewriting in this season?
Closing Blessing
Walk in the freedom of grace.
Release the burden of your past.
Let God turn your failures into fuel for His mission.
Step boldly into the new chapter He is writing—because the Author of life is not finished with you yet.
Pray as You Go
Inhale: Take what I have…
Exhale: …and use it for Your glory.
