Scripture: Luke 2:17-18

“When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child. All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.”

Reflection

When they found the Child, they didn’t keep it to themselves.

Luke tells us they spread the word “concerning the saying which was spoken to them about this child.” These shepherds, who were often dismissed and distrusted in society, became the first evangelists of the gospel story. Not after training. Not with polished words. Just truth, awe, and joy.

God trusted them to carry the news of the Messiah’s birth. And they did—with urgency, with honesty, and with wonder.

And they didn’t just tell their fellow shepherds. They told anyone who would listen, “Our savior is born!” Their excitement was contagious. Those who listened were astonished—not just by the message, but by the messengers. Shepherds… angels… Savior?

You don’t have to be a preacher to proclaim good news. You don’t need a platform to speak about what God has shown you. You just need a heart awakened by glory—and the willingness to go.

Even if it means leaving the familiar behind in the middle of the night.

Centering Prayer

Spirit of the Living God,

When You speak, let me move. Strip away hesitation and fill me with holy urgency. Let my wonder be active, my obedience swift. May I run toward Your presence and find You waiting in places I dared to go. – Amen

Practice for Today

Don’t delay today. If you sense God nudging you—toward a person, a prayer, or an act of service—act immediately, even if it’s imperfect.

Journaling Prompt

Where is God inviting me to respond with haste rather than hesitation?

Blessing for the Day

Run toward the wonder.
Let obedience be your first instinct.
Don’t wait for certainty when faith is calling.
And may your journey bring joy to others along the way.

Pray As You Go

Breathe in: Let me go now…
Breath out: … with haste and faith
