Scripture: Psalm 13:1
“How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?”
Lament is not just sorrow—it’s holy protest. It’s what faithful people do when they cry out, “This shouldn’t be!” Lament gives you space to name the injustice, to question, to weep, to grieve—with God.
You may feel the need to hide your feelings even from God. The reality is: God already knows, understands, and accepts you as you are.
In Psalm 13, David doesn’t hold back. He accuses God of absence. He questions. He pleads. And yet—he keeps praying. Lament is not faithlessness; it’s honest faith. It’s saying, “I’m bringing all of this to You, because You’re the only one I trust to hear it.”
The good news is that God knows and is still with you in your pain. Trying to hide your feelings keeps God from healing you. God will not change what you won’t release to Him. What you are willing to share, God is ready to transform.
God invites lament. He honors it. Let your pain speak—not just in private, but in prayer.
