Scripture: Romans 8:38–39 (WEB)
“For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Fortunately for us, Paul doesn’t just say he hopes nothing can separate us from God’s love – he says he is persuaded. That word in Greek means to be convinced of something that is trustworthy. Paul is convinced and assured that the promise of God’s love is permanent.
Stop what you are doing for a moment and let the immensity of this promise settle in:
Nothing can possibly move you out of God’s love:
Life and death can’t.
The influences in the earthly and spiritual realm can’t.
What happened in your past, happens in your present, or will happen in your future can’t.
Your fears, your failures, your doubts – none of these can pull you away from God’s love.
We may feel that we are distant from God when we’re discouraged, ashamed, confused, or hurting. That distance is an illusion. Those feelings should compel us to look for God’s love and find, as we always have, that His love for us never went away.
Nothing in creation – including you – can break the hold of God’s love for you.
This is not just for comfort, not just a promise. This is the foundation of your very being. You are held and connected to God. You are safe right where you are, because where you are is in Him.
Practice for Today: Name and Release
Write down anything you’ve feared might separate you from God—past sins, current struggles, unanswered prayers, doubts, distractions.
Then read today’s scripture again, slowly. Speak these words out loud over your list:
“Nothing can separate me from God’s love.”
Tear up the paper as a symbolic act of trust and release.
Journaling Prompt
“What lies or fears have made me feel distant from God? How does knowing that nothing can separate me change the way I show up today?”
Closing Blessing
Rest your soul in the certainty of the love that will never let you go.
Be convince, persuaded, that nothing – not even you darkest night – can move you away from the God who holds you close.
You are forever in His love.
Pray As You Go
Inhale: Nothing can separate me…
Exhale: …from God’s love.
Amen!
