Scripture: Galatians 2:20
“It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith...”
Grief doesn’t just take the people or things we love—it often takes a piece of who we were. You may no longer feel like the spouse, the parent, the friend, or the confident version of yourself you once were.
This identity loss can be disturbing and disorienting. You may ask, “Who am I now?” or “Will I ever feel like myself again?”
Time may seem to stand still in the midst of the pain, but even when you feel that God has forgotten you, He is at work in you and your experience. Even then—especially then—God is carrying you forward.
Paul’s words in Galatians remind us that death—whether physical or symbolic—always makes space for resurrection. As painful as this loss may be, it opens the door for a deeper, but different identity to emerge: one rooted not in what you’ve lost, but in who holds you.
Christ lives in you. That is your truest self. Even now. Especially now.
