Scripture- Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
Reflection
The blessing of God often comes wrapped in paradox. Jesus says those who mourn are... blessed—not because grieving is a good thing, but because in grief the presence of God becomes most real. Mourning is the honest cry of a heart that refuses to be numb. It is the willingness to fully face loss or sorrow.
When we grieve, we acknowledge that our world is not as we want it to be—that brokenness runs through creation and our lives. But Jesus assures us that in this space of vulnerability, the Father draws near. The Holy Spirit comes as the Comforter, whispering hope in the silence, bearing witness that we are not alone.
We also experience a deeper mourning as we realize our spiritual poverty: the sorrow that we feel when we see how far our own hearts fall short of love. This grief isn’t despair, but a gateway to repentance... and comfort.
The Kingdom doesn’t come to those who hide their pain, but to those who bring their wounds to God and find His healing embrace.
