“When King Herod heard it, he was troubled—and all Jerusalem with him.” == Matthew 2:3
When Power Is Shaken by a Child
The Gospel of Matthew gives us a stark contrast: on the one hand, Magi bowed in worship. On the other, a king trembled with fear.
Herod the Great was not known for humility. His name filled people with dread. He had clawed his way to the top through shrewd alliances, political manipulation, and brutal violence. And yet when he heard the news of a child’s birth—not even in his palace, but in the nearby village of Bethlehem—he was undone.
Herod trembled. Jerusalem trembled with him.
Because when a man who kills for power feels threatened, everyone feels the quake.
